Preschool Information

  • Whanau Teacher is the main point of contact for families as they transition to preschool. They also provide support with settling and help build relationships between whanau and preschool through conversations about the child’s strengths, interests and challenges. All teaching staff will get to know your child and will support them in their learning day.

  • 9:00am - Preschool Session Begins
    10:30am - Morning Tea
    12:30pm - Lunch
    2:00pm - Make Preschool Beautiful
    2:15pm - Gathering (Mat) Time
    2:30pm - Heading Home

  • It is important that your child’s attendance matches with their signed enrolment agreement. This is not only for helping teachers plan their curriculum programmes but also the Ministry of Education (MOE) provide funding based around a child’s regular attendance. If your child’s attendance falls below 50% or also known as the 3 Week Rule (absent for 3 consecutive days on the same day for 3 weeks) you will be charged fees and their enrolment can be removed.

  • Your child will have their own Heart Journal. This contains the philosophy and photos of Staff and Committee. Each term we add assessments of your child’s experiences, learning and development. These are completed at the end of each term. We share with you and ask for your aspirations and knowledge of your child.

  • From time to time, we support students who are studying towards Early Childhood Teaching. We guide and encourage them whilst they are on practicum at our centre.

  • Young children react in different ways to starting at preschool. Even the most confident child may take a while to become accustomed to the new environment. We ask for at least 3 visits prior to officially starting to help with getting familiar with the Centre, getting to know the teaching team and this is also an opportunity to ask further questions. Your child’s whanau teacher will talk you through a transition plan that will work best for your child starting with us.
